I noticed this a.m. while feeding the goats... eye swollen and pink throughout... flushed thoroughly with saline... I also have Pro-Pen-G Injection, and also have Bio-Mycin 200 Injection... I do not have any LA200... what would you suggest for a new kid maybe 8-10 pounds... orally or type injection or something locally to place in eye.. please help... thanks for your inputs... hate to lose a kid... brutal...
I used terramycin. I never used the other antibiotics so I can't help you there. I have a doe with a swollen eye right now from a piece of cheet grass getting in there. They look so miserable with swollen eyes.
You can use the Pen in the eye. A couple drops a few times a day. You can also use triple antibiotic wound dressing, which may protect the eye better. Just make sure it's plain, like original Neosporin, without any pain relief.
I took a walk down a road, it was a road I was meant to stay. Cinderella
I checked his eyelid and it appears to be normal... though still pink around an cloudy area... have rinsed a few times already so started bio mycin 200 today... .5 ml of 200 mg/ml.... SQ... will try this for 5 days and see how that works... also will call the vet tomorrow and see if he can provide some Gentocin spray ... He is usually pretty good with things of this sort... though he does not work with goats... will keep you all posted... thanks for your imputs and hope this helps others in the future... peace be with you all...
I used the Bio-Mycin 200... which is oxytetracycline (injection antibiotic) 200 mg/ml.... because of the the kids weight I administered .5 cc via SQ four days straight... The eye was really getting bad... almost to a point where I thought It may have collapsed... after the 6th day I noticed that the redness had receeded only to be replaced with white opaque film over eye... at this point I thought he was just going to be blind in the one eye... after two more days it totally cleared up.... I also washed his eye out several times with (contact solution) saline... bottom line is I don't know what he had, but suspect either minor injury or foreign object in eye that I could not locate.... He is now healthy and well with no sign of his troubled start in life... hope this helps others in the future... thanks for everyones concern.... peace... moe
