I feel like a dummy today because I thought my angora doe was in heat and showed all the signs of being in heat and how she normally acted during breeding season. Well this was not the case at all.
Today she gave birth to a little female kid. She hasn't shown any signs of pregnancy. I've never had a kid born in August nor have I heard of this happening to any other farms I know. My vet can't come until Wednesday and so far all seems well with the nanny and kid. She has gotten colostrum, not sure if I should do anything else at the moment. Has anyone ever gone through this before? [IMG]

She got milk right away and mama got her cleaned up and dry within half an hour. Birthing was a little rough for her so I helped get baby out but all seems well so far.

Just make sure she nurses. Have you not had kids before?

So long as they're doing fine you should be good :)

Make sure the dam passes the placenta.

    She is adorable :D

I've had kids before, but never a surprise summer kid. I honestly didn't know she was pregnant until she had a bag. A buck got to her through the fence.

What a gorgeous little surprise. I knew a girl named Secret once, that would be another cute name for her. She really is just darling!

The longer we keep goats, the more expert we become in our PARTICULAR goats. From now on, you'll remember how she was for this pregnancy and delivery.

Congrats. She is adorable. Yes, probably all of us have had a Summer baby before. And now, so have you.
