This goat can be found in the southern part of California and raised by the US Navy. It is considered a feral goat that has a Spanish origin. It has been living within the island for hundreds of years already, probably since the era of the 1500s. But it was in 1934 when the US Navy took charge of its caring.
These goats are considerably smaller than the usual kind that they can be almost considered as dwarf types. They are bred for its meat and can be compared to the likings of a deer. Both sexes are horned and their colors are usually in tan or red with some black marks.
