any ideas on goat playscapes? any assembled play area pictures would be greatly appreciated. for my goats I was thinking a cinder block, pallet, stump, and tire structure. has any one done something like this?
Whatever you can come up with that they can jump on is great I have spools, old kids little tykes playground, stumps, cinder blocks, and random and various other items.
Be careful with pallets, they can get their legs caught and broken between the slats.
We were lucky to have lots of natural stumps in their area, but we put together this as well
as well as lots of logs laying across dips in the ground, they love their little bridges
Then we shingled their main log structure, for better traction, and to save the logs from rotting - I figure it should also help wear their hooves down, too!
As you can probably tell, one thing we have a lot of around here is WOOD, so that's what everything is made out of!
as to the pallets I wasn't clear i meant to say that I was planning on covering the slats as I have seen a goat fall through a slightly elevated pallet then have a limp for the rest of chores. thank you for the wonderful ideas
Rocks. I jogged their fence line way out to make sure they had the Little Rock pit in their pen lol also last year I had a huge tree I needed to fall and I was planning on cutting it all up for wood but since they live the tree I left it
Just waiting for the doe on the one end to step off, while the one resting drops, LOL
