So this is the first injury that any of my boys have sustained in the 3 years we have had them. They have been pretty easy so far. Yesterday I noticed my boy has a nasty cut behind his ear. It looks to be about 1-2 inches long and is full thickness behind the ear. I cleaned it off with a wound cleaner. Anything else I should worry about? Should I give him an anti-biotic? Here is the best pic I could get of it.
If it is a rip, make sure it isn't infected.
Too late for stitches, if it isn't fresh.
Unless a vet has plenty of skin to work with, can possibly trim the edges and repair the ear.
It may be an option.
If you do not want to ask a vet that,
and if it is clean and not infected, spray bluekote on it, only if you can do it without getting it into the eye. So use something to block the eye when you spray it on.
Do it daily for a while, then as needed.
If it looks good and no infection is present, you do not have to inject antibiotics.
A torn ear will heals up well, when you keep an eye on it.

yea he had one a few months ago. I am going to clean it with soap and water when my husband gets home so he can hold him. It is hard to hold a 150 lb goat who doesn't want you messing with him.
When you clean it, make sure it doesn't have any pus (looks a little swollen to me). If so, try to get that out and flush with a weak iodine solution. Try to keep it open to drain.- check every day to make sure he isn't swelling in that area.
He is doing better today. I just went out and sprayed his wound spray on it. He won’t come up to me like he usually does. But I have him a nice little treat to distract him so I could clean it off. So far, it does not look infected
