We had a reality tv show from Florida call me and they want to film an episode on the ranch.
They say they have a group of teens get put in new situations and film there reactions.
so far i will have them cut the goats out of the cow herd and bring them up so i can treat them for worms.
then i thought i would have them unload and stack the last 4 ton of hay off the truck and stack it in to the barn.
I dont have a plan B Do you have any fun things we can make these city kids do?
I am LOVING all the ideas! Ya’ll are truly my peoples hahaahahah!
Mine would be.... scrubbing water holders of any kind and feeders! I absolutely hate doing these two things. Hate it even though it does not take long.
I'm a big fan of giving teens some hard grunt labor, but then rewarding them with something awesome like goat milk ice cream, or introducing them to some of the more charming aspects of farm life. Farm life is hard, but it's also very rewarding. We don't want to frighten off the next generation of potential farmers by showing them only the difficult, dirty, unpleasant parts of what we do! Best of luck to you!
Have them put on gloves and pull stool samples to test for worms. Then let them give the goats animal crackers. See how many eat the cookies with out washing their hands.
Not sure how this works as i am new, but my previous post was deleted.
Check liability; you should have a contract and checked by your lawyer.
What if these kids chase an animal into a fence and it breaks a leg.
What if one of your cows turns on these kids and they stand there frozen.
What if..
After reading all the legal documents they wanted me to sign. i had this uncomfortable vibe. then i watched an episode on YouTube.
Hell no
i have worked too hard to make make this place a family friendly. to let a bunch of young adults that are clueless foul mouthed premadona's ruin my reputation.
People coming to the farm can be dangerous for several reasons and some people today are always eager to take you to court. I had a women even tell me - if your dog knocks me over I will sue you. Needless to say I suggested she wasn't really very welcome if that was one of her first remarks.
Its ashame that the few self centered money grubbing freaks have to ruin simple fun for others. Its fun to me to see others farms and how they work and what they create
