So I dont know if you all are on FB. I am. I just got banned from a group called Goats Tips and Tricks.

I was browsing through it and a woman posts about putting diapers on goats to bring them in. Of Course some guys says Goats are live stock etc. Being a smart aleck.

The woman went off and cussed him out. So the mod bans her, and the other dude is okay. So I ask why is it okay from someone to start crap here, being a smart mouth, and its okay.

Are any one of you members there? I am going to complain to FB.

One of the hard things about FB is you begin to think people are actually your friends. While I have made a few life long friends there where we actually meet in person..most will stab you in the back even if your looking. People tend to get a god complex and can be jerks with no remorse. Ill stick with TGS family. ;)

I am on that group too and mainly just scroll through without ever commenting anything. FB people are far touchier about things they're passionate about LOL. I am a member of quite a few groups but if I have real issues or concerns, I raise them here on TGS because I know there will be no judgement or belittling.

FB is full of crazies these days with a bit of a warped sense of judgement.

Yeah the mods their have God complexes and I've had people correct me on stuff like using Whole milk, so I just try now to post some pics, and see goats from other places. Found a nice one for North Ga, but I mostly come here. The advice here is from Ranchers and people who've spent years and decades on Caprines. I'd rather ask this group here (too many of yall to name because I know at least 20 people here have helped me or answered questions).
But they need to smoke something lol. Calm down a piece.

I am not a part of that group and most groups that I am a part of I really don’t reply unless I’m in the mood to deal with keyboard warriors that I would put money on the fact wouldn’t say what they do to someone’s face. For the most part I look at FB as a way to connect with others in a fun way, and I try to keep that going. So for the most part I read posts on groups and just stick to posting pictures on my goat page, things I want to share with friends and funny things that I see floating around. My poor daughter wants a FB account mainly for the funny videos and post but I will absolutely NOT let her have one! She does not need people’s rude crap thrown at her, so I let her watch videos and see posts on my account

I have no idea even how to get on FB- heard too many horror stories. This is the only internet site I ever go to. I have looked at other forums and no way- those people are judgemental, arrogant and have dangerous misinformation. I can say that I have NEVER been steered in the wrong direction with regard to treatments, etc. on TGS! And, the MODs here are the BEST!!!!

I doNt do FB. I only work and discuss with people who are actually "doing what they are saying" i know there are some who try to make an extra $ over someone elses work & triumph. I know there are some that think they are veterinarians and never went to college. They need to stay.on FB & their Blogs. TGS is for.real people who are working with their animals and actually do hands on with their own. Most everybody.on TGS is that way...and I really Admire & Appreciate all they do. So Thankyou to the TRUE GOATEES!

I agree.

I am horrified with the vet groups on FB.
You see a goat who needs help ASAP and for hours or a day or so, no vet response.
When someone jumps in to try to help who is not a vet, they get angry and tell you not to respond.
I myself have not responded on the post but have messaged the person and have helped the goat that way.

Also what is dumb is, people wrote on this page wanting a vets help, you can see the goat needs help, yet they tell the person to reword the title, like what???? It is unbelievable.
They should not have a vets page, if at least 1 person can’t watch for animals in need.

Waiting for an answer from a vet because their excuse is, they have regular jobs, just kills a goat.
I understand they are busy and have real jobs, but, it is very unfair to those who think they will get help right away.
When in reality, their goat at the time is very ill and treatable, but by the time the vet responds, the goat is too far gone or dead.

I did respond on that vet group. I saw a UC case and no one was helping..so I did and got a lashing for it. Told me only vets can answer....I said then that baby is going to die because no one is helping. I left the group because I'm not going to keep my mouth shut and let a goat suffer. It killed me watching people wait days for help.

Ugh, Facebook goat pages are terrible. I’ve been silenced so many times it’s ridiculous. A huge part is that there are so many people that have 2 pet goats for 5 minutes answering like they’re experts with totally terrible advice.

The doe in labor ones really get me. The doe had been in begging labor for 12 minutes and everyone is screaming to globe up and pull it when it’s probably (90% chance) fine and they’re making it worse!!

I do like the goat barn ideas page and there’s a goat toys page that has some good ideas on it too. The goat AI pages is awesome. So, there are a few good pages out there but you have to weed through a lot of trash to find them.

I agree with everything being said. TGS is the best. :bighug:
It's not just goats, but chickens too. I've been some absolutely terrible advice given there. People just post of video of a chicken coughing, type "It's coughing, what do I do?" and all they get are 50 different answers. And, most of those answers end with "I tried all of this and it worked! Then my chicken died." :( There are so many different diseases out there and nobody asks about other symptoms so they all just recommend different answers. Way too many people have given B Complex with Corid since they try to follow the suggestions of everybody and end up losing their bird. :(

I'm glad we have TGS. :bighug:
