I hope you can see that I replied, just got in the house. We've been with the goats and I just came in to see f you people have any thoughts.. REMEMBER she was diagnosed with an enlarged heart almost 4 years ago and I believe it was from birth! The woman who gave Rose and Onxy to me said that she stopped breeding Rose's line, one of Rose's daughters had a doe but at just under a year old, Chris's went on a couple errands and came home and found that young doe deceased! We both have the same vet, so I contacted her about Onxy, that's when she told me about the little doe, our vet said she passed from a massive heart attack

Thanks so much, took her temperature today it is 103.1 not bad but still a small fever. Should I move this post so others can connect with me? Looked at her eyelids, a bit pale but not bad, I put her in the sick pen, she hasn't eaten in at least a few days, gave her a banamine shot because she's been grinding her teeth..my vet asked me to get a stool sample but she hasn't eaten, if she poops at all 8 have her where it would only be here, and my vet asked me to drop off a stool sample ♥I pray that's all it is, parasites but I see that she wants to eat hay but she can't seem to eat any unless it's just one at the time. Gave her some hay, watched her sniffing it because she has to be hungry! She started eating an orange and seemed to be very hungry but she was so mad that we caught her that she kept trying to bite..8 don't know why people remove horns Because when the goats that I have don't have horns they learn to at least bite! In fact that's the reason I have her, her mom was Rose who just passed away and the person that opened them, said each time her husband tried to come into where they kept them rose would bite him! Never have either of them bitten me but after having to chase her to take her temperature she was LIVID AND KEPT TRYING TO BITE ME AND MY HUSBAND, we had no choice but to catch her or she'd have withered away in me ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED ♥

Not need to do another post. This spot is good. I see your post.

Sounds like her rumen maybe upset. While you wait for the fecal. Give b complex and probiotics and dark beer at room temp.

☺I gave Onxy the banamine for a slight fever and vitamin B complex hoping it would stimulate her appetite and I'm going to have my vet check her teeth to make sure nothing in her mouth is bad.. like a sharp tooth or anything else that could give her pain when she eats

103 is not a high temp as 101.5-103.5 is normal range...but banamine can help stimulate appetite

If you have her penned now, you can put a collar on her so she is easier to catch and lead. None of mine have horns, and they learn to lead easily that way. In the meantime, if you feel she is cold, use deep bedding in her pen - also try giving her warm water to drink along with the advice above. Parasites can make them go off feed, but if she is coughing, and gurgling I'm thinking possible pneumonia at this point. If you've had quite a bit of a temperature change that can bring it on. Check with your vet about this possibility. She also may be getting water around the heart with these symptoms - a consult with your vet is wise.

Thanks so much, I wish I could post a video I have of her coughing, yes she's been gurgling for four years, on X-ray no fluid around her heart, my vet asked me to bring a sample in to check for parasites but she hasn't eaten enough to poop I gave her vitamin B complex and banamine for the grinding of her teeth. 8 also wonder if something is going on in her mouth, I'm going to have my vet come or bring Onxy to her. I can't let her STARVE I'm going to try adding the video from this morning.. you can hear her coughing and gurgling

Acorns have tannins in them so maybe she's had a few too many. Maybe you could stall her with a buddy for a couple days away from them and see if her appetite comes back. If nothing else, you could accurately know how much she's eating and what she's eating.
I do have her in our sick pen and I just received a message from my vet, she's on her way, this really does sound like acorn poisoning! She has every symptom accept she isn't bleeding from the nose. Thank you so much for your help ❤❤❤❤ you people are so much kinder than the goat pages on Facebook! I will get back to you all ❣❣❣❣❣❣

I can NO THANK YOU ALL MORE❣I HAVE SO MUCH RESPECT FOR YOU ALL TRYING TO HELP ME FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON ❣❣ From what I read i believe it's acorn poisoning, but I may have gotten her just in time, the only symptom she doesn't have is bleeding from the nose. These two Nubians have been the only goats that I have, that constantly has something going on. As I said the last owner said she stopped breeding Rose's line because of heart problems..❣❣❣I will update you ASAP

It's always good to bounce ideas off someone to think things through.
It's even better to have a good vet.
I'm just glad it's getting taken care of.
Our vet took x-rays, we have no choice but to put her down, the X-rays showed some kind of tumor that was pushing on her diaphragm making it very hard to breathe and my vet said her body was working so hard to breathe that she couldn't eat and breathe at the same time my girl is gone and I appreciate all of your help ❣ my vet said that she could get bad enough within days and we could find her down and struggling to breathe

Thank you so very much I never expected this to happen today . I have RESCUED these babies from people who no longer wanted them so I certainly don't get vet paperwork, I'm sure they weren't cared for like i care for them, they are just hear to be loved and cared for in the right way! Poor animals but at least I know I gave all my goats tons of attention and love❣ these goats mean sooo much to us.. thank you all for your help and suggestions I appreciate this website truly

So sorry you lost her
Thank you so much, my love for these beautiful creatures is hard at these times I sold had Onxy
Hi Debra...
It is just heart-breaking to lose a loved one but, unfortunately, it is part of life as we know it. :( The only thing we can do is LOVE them, treat them well and try not to take the time we have with them for granted. That time with them will ALWAYS be too short!! We (I, at least) are never ready for it even when we know it's coming and it just HURTS!! I'm sure your Rose and Onyx knew that you loved them, gave them a good life and took care of them the best that you could. That's all we humans can do for our 'kids'.

HUGS to you and Gidget!!! She's a real cutie!! :)
Ohh no I'm sorry I missed your comments this is a wonderful group, much better than Facebook goat pages! That's the very reason I thought you people would be interested in the cure for CL.. losing Rose and Onxy only about 5 weeks apart is excruciating I know Onxy was mourning her momma Rose Because she'd lay by the sick pen where I kept Rose I believe she just gave upshe was always with Rose when I let rose out while cleaning up the barn, had to keep my eyes in Rose constantly Because my goats with horns injured Rose one time too much but I'd let her with the others as long as I could watch them all of you people on this website seem to be great people ❣thank you so very much

Thank you so very much ❣ yes my heart feels like it busted in two! Losing both my sweet Rose and her daughter Onxy is a terrific nightmare I have to go on, I can't BECOME depressed like I usually do because I have 12 beautiful babies that still need me.. I'm sure you can understand, the way you spoke, I believe you are just like me, we do everything for our goats, and anything for them..I still have 12 beautiful sweethearts and I have to go on, but there's a time to laugh and a time to MOURN and that's not over quit yet..I have a video on onxy her last day, only 48 seconds but I can't upload it to this site. We were trying to get her to eat anything and you can hear that terrible gurgling sound ❣❣❣thank you so very much, I love this website much better than the ones in facebook which I've been off of for a couple months

I’m not nearly as good as these on the forum but when mind sometimes go off feed, I find that green oak leaves are good to get them to eat. Most of the time that’s the only leaf they will eat. When they are not sick they will eat all kinds of leaves. Just a thought.
