Hi All!

Do Pygmy kids get less ounces per day than the normal size kid? We are using a milk replacer and it says to cut the portions by 1/2. They are 10 days old.

Also, any thoughts on whole cows milk instead of replacer?

thank you!!! :)

Whole milk seems to be more easy to digest than milk replacer. Rule of thumb for feeding kids is to get their weights and multiple by 16 for the total ounces in their weight. (4 lb kid weighs 64 oz) Then take 10-12% of that weight to determine how many ounces of milk to feed. (10% = 6.4 ounces daily) Divide the total number of ounces by the number of feedings per day. (4 feedings = 1.6 oz per feeding.) Weigh the kids often to make sure they are gaining and increase the amount of milk according to the weight gains.
