Will using the Land of Havilah parasite formula 3x week for the kids serve as adequate cocci preventative? I’d rather not use meds and my herd has done very well with the herbal wormer.
And we’ve been putting a pinch into their mouths, they deal with the spicy ok. Didn’t start until they were 2 weeks old though. Maybe I’ll start the others earlier.
I read that goats don't taste the spicy the same as humans do. Mine never hated me for it. He didn't like to be forced to take anything, I don't think the spice specifically was a problem. He also voluntarily took raw garlic at the age of 4 weeks. @NDinKY , I also used it as coccidia prevention, but I didn't have a bunch of kids together, I just had one or two at a time, and never had a parasite problem here.
I also used LOH parasite formula after the mom kidded and the fecal later on was negative.
I am using LOH, too. And I used it when my does were young and had trouble with coccidia and it has worked extremely well as a preventative for that. I was only doing it once a week back then for them. They were around four months old at the time though so I don't know if that made a difference.
I will try giving the babies just the herbs with no honey and see how they react. I just don't want to start off on the wrong foot with them. (pray)
It went fine. They didn't seem to mind the spice. The little girl was more upset with me putting my fingers in her mouth than what I was putting in there. :lolgoat:
