Came out to Ebony laying down in the shelter and not getting up for feed. This is usually the first doe to the feed. My dad said she was slow this morning but now she is definitely acting sick. Got her up and she is walking, but doesn't want to. She is nursing triplets. Her hair is red but she had copper recently so it should grow back black. Pee is clear. Stands in a hunched position. No diarrhea. Also not letting kids nurse because she feels bad. Her famancha is too light to me. Got a bad pic. of famancha sorry doing it one handed. Her udder is warm but not hot. Can't take her temperature now, but will in a couple hours.

Update: she started eating a little bit of hay now that I got her up

She was dewormed with Zimecterin Gold after kidding she kidded January 20th of 2020. Will try to get a fecal to the vet soon. She is getting alfalfa hay, alfalfa pellets, coastal hay, Purina Goats Minerals and Dumor goat pellets. Was given copper bolus 3 weeks ago and selenium gel 4 weeks ago.

Gave her Valbazen, Geritol, and molasses water just now. She is starting to eat a little bit of pellets but still very worried about her. I put her in a stall by herself, the kids are eating grain and drinking water so they’re just gonna have to go without milk for now. She was in a pen with other moms and babies, none of them seem sick as of now.

I don't have a stethoscope, but put my ear to her and her lungs sound normal. The thermometer is on its way.

The only think I can think of is mastitis but she doesn’t have all symptoms only some. Definitely think she has anemia/worms too

I'm not familiar with Geritol - will it bring her temperature down?

Poor thing obviously feels like junk.

Did you milk her out a bit to check for stringiness, clumps, or blood in the milk?
Geritol is an iron supplement for the anemia that I was thinking she had based on her famancha. I have never used it in goats before, but saw that some people use it in a pinch when they don't have red cell. Should I give her something to bring down the fever? If so what?

She may have a fishtail going on there. If so, she needs a copper bolus.

105 temp is high, she may have pneumonia starting.
She is past the point of kidding/uterine concerns.
I would think.

How's her udder and milk, does it look and feel OK?
Any mastitis?

Her eye color is light.
How much Valbezen was she given?

She had copper bolus about 3 weeks ago. Should I give her another? Just milked her and it looks normal. Her udder feels normal also. I didn't think pneumonia was usually a problem in Florida and her lungs sound okay. What are some other signs of pneumonia? Gave her 4cc of Valbazen today.

Yes if you have Banamine I would give it to bring that fever down.

Check her milk and give B-Complex injection, subq 6cc/100lbs

With 105 she has some type of infection in addition to the parasites/anemia. Two issues may be compounding each other. I'm surprised that a worm load would get high that quickly after using Zimectrin Gold at kidding but looks like it.

I don't have banamine, but might be able to get some tomorrow from the vet or a friend. Is there something else I can give her for the fever in the mean time? Her milk and udder seems fine. Is there any worm that zimecterin gold doesn't kill? Possible resistance to the ivermectin in the zimecterin gold as we use it most out of the wormers, about every 3 months in various goats depending on if famancha is at borderline or less.

Definitely needs antibiotics started asap. What do you have on-hand? Banamine as well. That temp is what's making her feel so bad.

Geritol should not be used. It's alcohol base. Better to grab red cell.

Now I know for next time, no geritol. I'll get red cell tomorrow. I have penicillin.

Hold off on copper..it is too soon to redose. Cool compresses behind ears and on belly can help bring down her temp. Don't get her real wet. Adult aspirin can help as well.
Penicillin is not the best but let's get her started asap.1 cc per 20 pounds sub q. 2x a day Be sure to draw back the plunger and check for blood..no blood is good to go..see blood..re adjust and try again.

Okay starting her on penicillin. Let me know if I should try to get a different antibiotic. Might take her to the vet tomorrow or Friday if she doesn’t get any better.

This morning her temp. is 100.5 which I’m assuming is partially because it’s a little chilly out but I think that means no fever. Penicillin must have helped. She’s acting fine now too.
