Well I needed something to cheer me up after losing Violet so I finally talked my husband into hair sheep. I planned on 2 ewe lambs instead we're picking up 5 in the morning. 1 ram and 4 ewes one of which may be bred.

I didn't find anyone testing here either. Though even tracking down hair sheep within a few hours of home was a pain. I'll be doing these guys. The guy I'm getting these guys from raises up rams for a hunting business so not really needed for what he does
Aw, they look great. It’ll be fun following their adventures with you.
Sometimes a new addition (or 5) helps ease the hurt.
I can’t wait for more pictures

Not friendly at all so I've got myself a project lol. I want them catchable and touchable but Im totally ok with them not attacking me every time I go in the pen like the goats do.
Congrats! A pretty bunch you have! We love our hair sheep (until we have to catch them LOL). Ours are touchable...but catchable....ehhhhh LOL.
Ours are not tested either, though they stay seperate. At some point I will test our keeper ewes. We are actually getting a polled boy (from a tested herd) and will breed him to all 6 girls and keep polled ewes to replace these mamas. We'll probably bottle those ewes so we can have them super friendly towards us. Then they will be our breeder ewes and we'll have them all tested. Ours are solely for meat here not really for breeding and selling.

I like your plan on the bottle feeding to get them friendly. I may have to do that next year. These guys are mostly for my amusement at the moment though the husband and I like the idea of using them for an exotic hunting business like he does if we can get a nice chunk of land when we move back east
The lab I use does it as well I think it's more of a. Lot of breeders don't bother with it. Which I suppose if you had a huge flock it would be way to expensive
Very nice sheep! What an adventure you have started! So neat. There is a family down the road raises rams for hunting. They have to keep 8 ft fences and tarps over the fences, so the bucks wont beat each other up! Lol lol
Yours look adorable. Good luck!

Those are beautiful!!! I got two hair sheep ewes about 2 1/2 years ago and they are precious!! They are low maintenance, and love raw carrots and frosted mini wheats for a snack. Very people-friendly once they get comfortable with them. They have shared the pasture with my growing goat population and are very compatible. The two billy goats love the sheep and hang out with them. I wish you the best!!
