Selenium should not be given free choice in high levels because toxicity can happen. A mixed mineral block or loose minerals is a safer choice....

Well that's untrue. My goats definitely consume the mineral block without issues.
No. The minerals are the same just that it's in a block and not loose.
I would separate each Hen with a divider. At least this way you know they should be safe.
