Hello everyone, I've recently gotten a very sweet, nearly 2 1/2 month old buckling that I plan to train as a pack goat. I would like to get him castrated at 4 months so as not to stunt his growth. He is currently living as part of a mixed herd here on our farm and we'd rather not have any...

I have a doe who gave birth on March 2nd. I just recently sold her son, she had twins, girl and boy. I’ve noticed that her udder is filling up and im wanting to know if i need to milk her or not. It looks like it did when she bagged up the day of giving birth. The girl still nurses and i think...

just including a picture of Copper; although he is a little bigger now We bought a registered ND buckling about 2 weeks ago now. He’s been fine but since we’ve had him we’ve noticed he does actually have horns; they’re not growing as they would of course because he was supposed to have been...

I have an interesting case here. Has any one experienced a kid that nurses from multiple does? I have a two week old buckling who’s mother is a FF. She takes good care of him, nurses him, cleans him, and responds too his calls. I have noticed him following around one of my older foes who has...

If you’ve seen my recent post you know that I am in the process of weaning some of my babies. Well I banded the male twin a little over a month ago he was around 11-12 weeks old when i did so. Now it seems that the band is too loose. IT is shriveled up, hard, and below body temp but hasn’t...

I'm looking at getting a buckling this spring as well as a doeling. They are from the same seller, and I don't know yet if they share the same father. I know you aren't supposed to breed siblings, but does that apply if they only share one parent?

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I have a 2 1/2 month old buckling. He is a Nigerian Dwarf/Nubian mix. I want to use the Emasculation method for castration. I called the vets, and it cost me $300.00 for this procedure. We live in Camp Verde, Arizona. Do you know anyone who will castrate using this...

I castrated a 13 week old kid today. I suppose I got ahold of a bleeder because it won’t stop bleeding. I’ve held pressure for 30 minutes and it’s still bleeding when I take the towel off. Should I tie it off and see if that will resolve the bleeding? Is there a way to cauterize the bleeder?

As some of you know, I had some difficulties with my wether and knowing if he was actually a wether or not. Well, today I found out! He is 100%, absolutely, positively... a Buck. He has peed in his mouth at least 5 times today, and is chasing around our new buck and flapping his tongue and lips...

Just got myself a buckling to eventually sire my herd, and he’s the cutest thing. Unfortunately I am clueless when it comes to what my herd needs to improve on since I’m only just starting out, but he comes from a good herd, good lines and his dam has a decent udder for a FF. My question is, is...

Have a buckling that's about 6 weeks old, growing fast and is thriving well. We have someone coming to get him at the end of the month but wanted him banded. We went ahead and did the job today, but being our first time, I'm very paranoid about it, and I'm worried we might have banded a bit too...

Is there any significant difference in how interstitial pneumonia presents in a one-month-old kid? Other than dosage, is there a differential in how to treat?

I am working with a 27 day old Nigerian Dwarf kid. He is one of four, all healthy at birth. The short version is this: He has been sick for ten days. 4 different antibiotics have been tried at this point, none have managed symptoms for longer than a day (two days TOPS). Okay forgive me if this is long but I want to be detailed so I can best manage my situation. I have a backyard mini farm with a fenced in acre. 2 Nigerian dwarf does that are 2 years. 4 ducks. 3 chickens. 5 barn cats. We just brought home a new 4 week old buckling from a farm 2 hours away. I...

Our first buckling was born on 3/20/2020 and mom was great with him until the 28th. She runs from him now and won't let him nurse. Her sister gave birth on the 28th, so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. The does' utter is not as full and her nipples look deflated for lack of a...
