Have not seen anyone post a topic like this yet, but thought I would. What are your 2020 goals with your herd???
1. Go to Nationals again
2. Teach my wether to pull a cart.
I am sure there are more, but I cannot think of them right now!!! Also, from all of us at Riverside Fainters we wish you a Happy New Year

Happy New year! :)
Biggest goal is to add a quality Boer buck. I've enjoyed not having to winter a buck but it's time to work on improving the herd.
Goal 2 is to get up to atleast 12 does this year.
And 3 a barn expansion. It's not quite large enough for the number of does I'd like to have.

My goals are:
Finish the additional kidding stalls BEFORE I need them lol
Finish the buck shelter

The two big goals would be:
Add on to the front of the barn
Redo/remodel the doe pen cattle panel shelter (needs new sides, roof canvas just needs some reinforcement and some patches - going on 5 years with nothing done to it!).

As for the herd - We're waiting to see what kidding season has in store for us. We keep a relatively small herd, but kidding out more than we ever have - 6 due in the next 2 weeks.
Some are first timers, and first kids from our twin yearling bucks.
So kid correctness, good mothering, etc. will determine a lot.

We show in the summer months in county fairs and a few ABGA shows, we don't have a fancy show herd, but we enjoy it very much. So our goal will be to attend our favorite shows, and possibly 2-3 ABGA shows this spring/summer.

AND..... I want to take a real vacation lol! That's a good goal right? Currently talking with my brother and his wife about possibly trying to go down to the Florida Keys! I haven't been down there in years.

We were working on teaching Gil to pull a cart and were making great progress. But then it got super hot upper 80s-90s for awhile. Then he was on restrictions due to an injury. He is better now! Will slowly start introducing it to him again. Attending our 2nd show of the year at the end of August then Nationals in Oct!
