Well I have a doe named chritmas and she wasent due till the 30th. I heard my dog barking and I went out there and see her cleaning a baby, I run down there and the little girl she was cleaning unfortunatly was dead... :sigh: I dont think she ever breathed as she was limp and her pink mouth was blue. I hate it when this happens. So I was sittng there thinking she was done, looked at her behind to see if afterbirth was coming out and there was a HEAD sticking out lol. So I grabbed it and helped her push him....yes him out. He is a solid solid boy, crissys udder is nice enough to keep him a buck so I am contimplating it. Anywyas, here are some pictures.

That was so lucky you were there- I do wonder if she could have finished the delivery without some help.
He's a really cute little boy- I love the rich color. Congratulations!

That boy was stuck, she couldent finish the delivery, I thought he was dead cause his head was cold, it was just his head sticking out, no feet. He was cold when I grabbed the head so I thought he was dead, I pulled him out and he screamed.....whew! So yeah, now I feel like a horrible person cause if I was there I could have saved the little girl.... I always am there when they kid, always, this one the people told me that she wasent due till the 30th. Oh well.

Now do not go beat yourself up over that . You had no idea, as far as you knew she was not ready. As far as you know even if you were with her that doe might of been dead when it was delivered.
That picture of the dog licking the goat, I thought that was the goats tongue.
He is a doll.

I've had to pull many kids by head. They do tend to stick like that for a while so I always pull. The longer they stay like that the worse off they get from breathing problems to constrictive birth canals. So I think you did the absolute best thing possible! Glad it resulted in such a cutie!!!

Awww.........he is so cute! And it looks like he has a good substitue mama to:). I'm so sorry the doeling died. I lost one of trips this year because I missed her having her kids. I dont know whether it was a doe or buck-didn't look to see. My old dog Chester also loves it when we have baby goats in the house-he thinks he is their substitute mama and gets very protective of them:).

Congrats on the boy Sorry about the girl. He is cute. The color is kind of a carmel. Wow I am impressed that you trust your dog. I have 3 dogs and I wouldn't trust any of them. Suellen

Sassy is a good dog, she is very very good with the babies, but the older goats she has a tendancy to "play with" and well I lost one to her "playing" with them. My queensland is a little s**T. I have to be VERY VERY careful with her as she just killed one of my dax doelings......she trys to herd them and she will run up and grab them by the neck and one shake and they are dead....She is now tied up, always!! I am having a really hard time.

Your pup looks like a very good "goatmommy"!! Sorry about the little doe, she was more than likely stillborn, no fault of yours and a very good thing that you got this handsome little guy out when you did...he is a very pretty color!
