I'm not sure I want my goats disbudded. What's the reasoning behind this? And what if I let them keep their horns?

Generally speaking, dairy goats are disbudded & meat goats are not.
If you are going to show, dairy must be disbudded.
4H & many FFA chapters require disbudded animals of either type.

I find disbudded goats are much easier to handle, no horns to poke you with accidentally (or purposely). Some people say that horns will protect a goat, but really, if a dog or other wild animal really wants the goat, they're gunna get that goat! Horns can also get stuck in fences, hurt other animals, etc. If you have fiber goats, I would leave them on, they help cool the animal off when they have all their hair on.
