Northern Indiana DH and I attempted to do trimming by ourselves for the first time last week....we both got frustrated and gave up...not because of the boys behavior, but because we were scared we were going to cut too much and hurt them......I have been reading and looking at pics of question is how do you know how much of the toe tip to trim and at what angle or does that matter?....I noticed the tips of the boys toes are starting to grow and getting a bit long. Our boys have big boulders to play on which helps a lot, but with the weather they are staying inside the barn most days right now.
    Thanks for your help, Denise

When you trim the hoof itself, make it "flush" with the far as the tips " toe" goes , I have a doe that gets sharp looking pointy toes that I have cut back at an angle...if I wait too long between trims I have to do hers 2 x a week to get them back in shape. I snip off the tip and shape it to match the rest of the hoof.
