Goats have very good memories, they just don't remember exactly what it was they were supposed to remember. So you can take advantage of that.
Always carry their favorite snack with you. You don't have to always be feeding them the snack. Just enough to remind them that you are the keeper of the snack. Play with them and pet and groom them. Later they will completely forget that you have the snack, and they will still want to be with you because they think they remember that you are the one who pets and grooms them.
This is the same reason we have sit down dinners with teenagers. It reminds them that you are the keeper of the food, drink and car keys, and hopefully later they forget that and think that they remember that they actually like being with you.
It may take a while for them to respond, and about the time they have teenagers of their own they may wish to spend more time with you. Often they think you did such a good job at it that they send you their teenagers for an extended period of time.
