Hi yall.
As most of yall probably know, I am getting a doe Thursday. . . . . .but unfortunately I just realized I have nothing to transport her in that will fit in the car. I know I could fit a crate in, but I am worried that the person I am getting her from might not sell her to me because of having the crate. What do you think? Do you think it would be ok to do the crate? I can't fit a dog cage in.

Every goat I purchased went in a large wire dog crate and I never had a seller look at me funny for it. I had a tarp down, the wire crate in the back seat and lots of straw inside it. She likely will just hop out of the tote and it may not give her enough room to lie down comfortably (depending on the size) but a tarp and some straw in the back seat of a car work just fine too.
Thanks for the suggestion!

A crate will be fine. It’s good your daughter is coming along. Just make sure she doesn’t get her horns hung up in the wire… but she should be just fine.

Tarp.. backseat… straw… yup that’s how I brought my goats home! It was a one hour and a four and a half hour drive. 😁😉

If she’s small enough you can use a storage Tupperware-tote also. It keeps the car clean but put down puppy pads so she’s not standing or laying in wet.

I know you've already done it by this point and I didn't read all the responses but I have you several means I've used the big collapsible dog crates and carriers for smaller animals for my full size Nubians I got a pad a phone like a piece from somewhere that makes furniture just a leftover piece that's thick and put that across the back seat. Then I bought one of those dog seat covers that are waterproof that hooks to the headrest in the front and back. Then I lined it with towels. Girls do a pretty good job. You need to stop about every hour and a half or so and let them pee. If not be prepared to get them out absolutely immediately when you stop because they will want to pee. Boys don't care they'll whiddle all the time.
