There is no place on the service memo for it, i just wrote it at the top. Im wondering if they forged my signature on another one. You can see right through those slips, it wouldn't be hard to put it up toa window and trace it. I have never done it but from years of design classes in hs i know its not hard to do.

Sounds like the kind of people I have had to deal with. Now I know what you all are gonna say buttttt I am gonna tell my story anyways lol. Sold a little buckling at 2-3 days old...obviously not old enough to wether, well sold him for $50 to these people who just wanted a pet, next thing I know they wanted the registration papers fixed to say buck instead of wether, I said no way not gonna happen as mommas udder is NOT buck quality. The next thing I know the buck is reg under a buck!!! Contacted the NDGA and she said I would have to take them to small claims court in order to fix it....SO my lesson that I have learned is to never!! Never sell a baby unfixed. AND when I sell bred does if I feel there shouldent be any bucks out of it, I do the doe kid only papers, and I have done it and it has worked so I am garenteeing that they forged your signature. I dont blame you for being pissed, and in all honesty you should stop doing the oh well thing, I feel so bad for you but you really need to stand up for yourself!! I would be raising red flags every where telling them what is what! :D I just really hope that you can keep those bucklings from getting reg, and you are the one reg that little doeling so you get to name her whatever in the world you want to, its your goat!!!! good luck!

Wow, that really sucks. I hate it when people manipulate the system. I guess the name thing really isn't that big of a deal and everything. I can call her whatever i want i mean i called her mom spot and her registered name was cyprine. It just seems to me that i should be able to put whatever i want for her name on her papers, i picked her up the day she was born, within a matter of hours. The only way i don't name kids i sell is if i have want to show them and i need to send in registration papers. If i have kids reserved or they get baught within a few weeks before i pick out a name then the new owners get to name them. Its they're goat they have the right to that.
I sent them an email, was very polite about the whole thing, still havn't heard back from them. They got the sisters papers back already and are wondering why they havn't gotten dixies papers back, i had to explain to them that i called adga months ago to ask why my stamped duplicate hadn't been sent, they said they were getting ready to send the papers to these people, i geuess i got kind of ticked at ADGA and told them i was the owner of the doe and i had her in my posession, i paid the fees to register her, so they need to be sent to me. Now this lady is all mad at me because she isn't getting the papers. She told me to stop working with adga to fix the problem. Blah too many problems. My roomate who has nubians sent in one of her does papers at the same time, they charged my account with er transfer and registration fees. Called them up about that said i hadn't owned a nubian in eight years and was wondering where this doe was coming from. They had charged my roomates doe to me.....they're excuse was we had the same adress. but yet whenever you call them the first thing they ask for is your ID number, i guess they don't look at that when they are going to registration applications.
LOl oh well. This seems to be a good thread for everyone to vent on! LOL

Oh I guess I was wrong  . But that really stinks! I don't think anyone should be allowed to register kids in someone else's herdname without that person giving permission! Don't you all agree? That just doesn't work for me.

Some people!! :x  :x

I am VERY new to the registration process. I joined NDGA and AGS because of the 2 ND I bought. Binky just needed to be transferred into my name and well, Chief had to be registered in both, I had to send in the form which was partially filled in with the breeders info as well as a service memo to AGS, I named him but he has the breeders herd name, which is the right thing to do. I honestly never thought that there were people out there that would falsify information on papers for a goat! Like now, if Binky kids the beginning of January I know the kids can be registered as Chiefs offspring, I feel that any bucklings should be wethered as Binky has a not so level topline and Chief is a bit pigeon toed, papers on a wether (IMO) are not neccessary....so I don't sell kids before they are old enough to be banded so I shouldn't have a problem there. I certainly hope I don't end upo with the issues on "papers" that youns have experienced!

Unfortunately, once Breeder signs the breeding memo and transfers the bred doe into the New Owner's name, New Owner can legally do whatever they want with the kids. If you have any doubts about a person, date the transfer certificate 5 days before the breeding memo, then the kids will be in the New Owner's herdname. But if they're both dated the same date, or if the breeding memo is dated before the transfer, the Breeder has no voice unless they have the New Owner sign a seperate contract. And such contracts are VERY hard to enforce and frequently lead to more problems and ill-will than they prevent. It has been my experiance that getting into a fuss with a buyer usually is a no-win situation for the breeder, because the buyer then proceeds to tell everyone they can what a nasty cheat you are and that no one should ever do business with you. You're usually better off just walking away, and if comments are made about that buck not being up to snuff at a show, just quietly let people know that you hadn't wanted it left intact but they owned him and you were stuck. Believe me, I'm very protective of my own herdname, but the bottom line is that this other person owns that buckling and has the legal right to register him as she chooses. You have the legal right to tell them to kiss your grits and forget where you live. Then you might want to make a point of finding a genuinely good 4-H'er and helping her/him get going, to help conteract the bad press this woman is surely going to try spreading about you.

beth di you have your copy of the service memo? if you do you can always make a copy & send it to adga to make sure it is the same as the one they have. an other thing you could do is contact one of your district directors to see if they can help. that is what they are there for to help us.

Yeah, this is whats i was afraid of. They still have not emailed me back. Which is very frustrating so i can't register the kid anyways. I don't have these peoples herd name. As for the buck kid i just hope they don't expect his kids to turn out outstanding becuase his sires dam was the first place three year old at nationals and then come back to me when they don't turn out as nice as they want.

Well that's their problem. You told them that they should not use them as bucks, and that's what matters. Oh I just feel so bad for you!

Why didn't you date the doe who kidded bucks sale to before she was bred and give them a memo. That way if she had bucks the kids would take her herdname and not yours. That is what I do or I use AGS only memos and use doe-only.

I would be furious in your situation too. This is why I use the above policy. If you want to register the buck kids I date the sale before she was bred and if you don't want to register the bucklings I give only AGS memos. Doe-only.

Doe kid back, I'd have a signed contract. I would want the kids to have my herdname if I took it back and if the ADGA says that's how it needs to be then I'd follow through on that. Good luck!

I have a contract on the doe kid, i didn;t think that nameing her would be such an issue. As for the buck kids She was bred a good month before the sale of the doe. I gues this is something i shoud of considered. Didn;t think they would want to keep a buck. they told me they just wanted a couple of does for home milk purposes, well now they have seven does kept one of the bucks and are wanting to show....
I guess people change their minds lot and they have every right to do so. I just feel like i have been ripped off in a way. I gave them a discount on both does, because the baught two and they were first starting out, plus a free breeding. I mentioned so in the email i sent them two days ago, she was always really prompt about emailing me back but i havn't heard from her sinse. So maybe i got my message across....
Who knows Now i know for next time.

All we can do is learn from our mistakes. I made the mistake of being nice and taking a check at pick-up and you may have heard my story. Woman called me at 11pm that night complaining saying I falsely represented my animals. (They were 1st Generation Mini-Oberhaslis and she said they were experimentals. She should have done some research before buying and I did fully explain about Minis to her on the phone and by email.) Anyway, she canceled the check the next morning and sent me an email which she made appear to be from a lawyer. Well we talked to a judge and learned that she can't refuse payment and have our goats so we drove down to her place (3 hours one way) and got a police escort out to her place to pick-up our goats. She kept trying to get us to take payment for them then. Well she wasn't keeping my goats and I don't care how much she would have offered then. She also said while we were there, that she didn't have a lawyer so I think she scams people like this all the time. Probably works with some people but not me. I kept the goats till they kidded out and sold them then.

Its rediculous what people do and I've learned the hard way too you can't trust anyone and you can't do a nice deed for anyone because the one you do will wind up being the one who'll screw you!

Did I read right that you already have the doeling in your posession? If so that's great. Hope you never have to deal with this type of person again.

Yes i have the doe kid in my posession thankfully just no way to register her. Unless i register her as native on apearance, but she already has tattoos in her ears. and being an alpine it makes it really difficult to re tattoo because their ears are small.
