At what point should I separate my baby pygmy bucks from their baby sisters? I don't need anymore baby goats for a while. Thanks, Kimberly
I had 2 baby does come into their first heat at 3 and 4 months of age...pygmy boys are fertile as early as 8-9 weeks...I band all boys at 7 weeks unless requested as a buck. To be on the safe side though, either keep the baby boys in a seperate pen together or get them wethered(banded)
wether by 8 weeks if possible -- I had 3 month old boys in with their moms and nothing happened but that isnt always the case for everyone. Girls tend to be fertile around 3-4 months but there have been those times when the girls have had their first heat around 2 months and gotten preggy. So to be on the safe side with minis best to separate at 8 weeks or wether.
