Barley Passed away

Barley went off feed suddenly Monday and started laying around more than usual. After a heroic battle for her life while I am sick with covid, she died in my arms this morning. I did most everything for her. It's like something in her digestive system just stopped. I heard and felt rumen activity but she was not pooping. She was still up and walking throughout this. I was so sure she was doing better last night. But at some point in the night she stopped getting up, bloated, and became quite cold. I knew we had lost the fight this morning and held her close while she quickly faded and began to panic. I held her so tight to help soothe her. I am hoping I helped in some way to ease her passage. I can't believe she is gone, but I am glad to no longer see her in that pain she was in. A hard day for me today. I need a win with the next kiddings. I will be keeping another daughter from Flora. It's so hard that bright life and potential as a first freshener just starting her milking career here is just gone.
