I prefer a dirt floor. You could put pine shavings down to soak up the pee. Then put straw on top of that.

I have a wooden floor in my barn. I seal it every couple years with Thompsons Water Seal and use wood pellets covered with straw for bedding.

And how often would you clean your bedding? Is it bad that I use hay for bedding, they just lay there and eat, should I be using stray for bedding vs. hay?

Usually straw is cheaper than hay, Straw has very little nutritional value, though.
I wish it were that way here!
The only place I can find straw is the feed store and it's $10.99-$12.99 depending on the time of year... And I can get hay for around $5 a bale..

We have used hay that they waste a lot of as bedding in the past, it works the same as straw pretty much..
