Beet pulp

Should I soak beet pulp before feeding? I have been feeding it dry unless I’m mixing minerals with it so it will stick to the beet pulp. If so on wetting it , do you just do enough for one feeding or will it not spoil if I wet more of it for a weekly feeding of one time mixing?

Is it the pelleted or shredded beet pulp?

We only soak it if the goat is having problems chewing due to teeth issues

We only soak it for one feeding

You don't need to soak beet pulp. I never soaked it when I used it.

I've fed it wet or dry, whatever way your goats like it more. No need to soak it though. If you are soaking it only do enough for a few days in cool weather and even less if it's hot. It will spoil. ;)

It’s shredded beet pulp. I normally feed it dry at feeding time, also I added it to my mineral when feeding mineral in the mineral feeders. Then I started soaking the beet pulp in a quart jar and mixing my mineral with the soaked beet pulp, shaking it up good and adding to the mineral feeders. They eat it up when it’s mixed like that. I only fill up the mineral feeder with a half quart of beet pulp and sweetlic mineral. This I do about 3 times a week. If I don’t mix it, my goat will not touch the Sweetlic mineral. My baby goats are now at almost 4 months and they love it fixed that way also. They have their own feeders in side their creep feeder that the adults can’t get to. Thanks
Keep doing what works for you.

It’s shredded. I’ll just soak what I mix with the minerals for the babies. They love it that way. My adult goats eat it mixed in the minerals. If I don’t mix it they won’t eat the seeetlic mineral. I feed 2 qts a week sometimes 3 qts. Thanks for all your replies , I’ll just feed dry to grown ups and dampened off to the kiddos with the mineral mixed in. This way they can’t separate all the beet pulp without getting some mineral from it. That’s why I wet it in the first place.
Are you feeding sweetlix meat maker 16:8? Or something else? You mentioned seeetlic mineral?
If it isn’t sweetlix meat maker, you should get some.

I don’t recommend forcing minerals
on the goats, in fear of overdosing certain minerals, which can cause more harm.
