i picked up a little doe (Nigerian) for free maybe a month to 6 weeks ago. She is blind. Ruled out common causes - no eye weeping, no signs of pink eye. Her eyes are slightly cloudy but otherwise clear around the edges and she obviously doesn’t see well.
Dewormed her as she had almost no color to her eye lids (prohibit) and gave her some iron. Her coat is rough and feels like steel wool.

She eats very well, is a healthy weight and doesn’t act sickly at all. Any ideas what could cause the blindness? Or probably just permanent?

If her coat is rough she is in definite need of minerals. She needs loose minerals, probably a good dose of copper bolus, and some Replamin as well.

As for the blindness, I'm not really sure -- I would see how boosting her mineral needs does, it can affect many more things than we care to admit. But if she just blind, consider getting her bonded to a buddy (and put a bell on the buddy too) so she can live safely without sight.

I remember the thread listed, they mentioned that chlamydia can be a cause for blindness. It may be worth it to have some blood testing done on this gal. You absolutely do not want anything spreading to your own herd.

Do you know anything of her background?

I would also get her started on an antiviral, antimicrobial, antibacterial, supplement.

(Or both if you're like me :waiting:)
