I am not one to panick over little things and I am not really worried now.

But I thought it might be good to see what you all think about the fact that Jasper and Mia's temperatures are 100.7 & 100.3 respectively.

I tried to get Destiny's temp but she ran off and I couldn't catch her (same with Flicka and Aspen) I didn't try Misty or Sweet Pea.

The temps here are rather cold but not as cold as they have been 30*F

The reason I checked their temperatures is because usually when I go out to feed (it is later usually too) they all greet me and can't wait for me to give them their hay. well tonight they were all just standing outside looking comfy and when I was putting out hay and they didn't run up and push and shove and trip me I got worried.

Maybe it is because I fed them at 11:00am this morning and it was only 8:00pm tonight. Who knows. Anyway they all eventually got moving and started to eat all but Jasper, who wouldn't leave my side. He did eventually dig in so I am not as worried as I first was (he normally is a PIG and pushes and shoves and causes quite a rucus when he wants his hay)

Ok enough rambling.

ok so you think I should run out again and check temps and such? I think I will it has been almost 3 hours

Last time I checked temps on I think it was Mia or Aspen her temp was 101.4 or something like that so these new temps were a flag.

ok checked everyone

Mia 100.7
Jasper 101.9
Destiny 100.5
Sweet Pea 101.5
Misty 101.0
Flicka 102.3
Aspen - couldn't catch her - but she was chewing cud and acting quite hyper.

So Mia and Destiny are the only ones who have the lower temps and Mia's rose .2

I will check Destiny and Mia's especially in the morning

Mia was chewing her cud and I saw various goats doing the same or hurd rumen sounds

Mia had a slight wet nose, nothing major but I will keep an eye on it and bring out some nutri drench in the morning
Misty also had a slight wet nose, she will also get nutri drench in the morning

how much do you usually give an adult pygmy doe? I usually give 3-6 ccs is this enough?

I see them chewing cud and they gobble their feed down.

I have to cut a friends hair and then I will bundle up and check their temps again and really check for rumen function.

What do I do for the low temps really?

I read the artical - good one but there was no advise given for how to treat. So that isn't very helpful. :S

I have CD Antitoxin should I give some of that orally? to get the good bacteria in their rumen?

I am also going to give some fastrack.

I forgot to mention I gave Mia and Misty the Nutir drench like I said I was going to.

Ok she is here got to go but i should have new temps and such for you in about an hour

both are pregnant and on day 51

They ate their food with gusto this morning.

Teresa what is po?

Yes I give them warm water morning and evening. Do you think I should have someone provide it mid day as well?

Ok going out to check on them now - will give a report when back.

thanks for the suggestions

ok checked Destiny and Mia and both at 101.0

First check on Mia was 100.3 and I think I didn't have it in far enough because it was a slow read so I checked again which ended up with the 101.0

Shelly yes I thought of that and I will purchase a new one tomorrow to check everyone's temp tomorrow.

The themometer hasn't been used a lot and is less then a year old but anything is possible. And this way I can have two because I tend to bring the one in to get it washed and forget to bring it back outside for accessability.

Po - ok got it, thanks.

As to what I feed I feed a sweet goat feed that is max of 1.25% and phosphorus is .40%

I feed a alfafa mix hay.

No other supplements of calcium. I have read conflicting reports on if I should or shouldn't give calcium supplements (ie tums) so I was holding off till I had done more research on it.

Do you suggest I start them on something? I have CMPK and I have tums and I have a calcium tablets with Vit D in them.

they get 1/2-1 cup of grain once a day.

I found a thermometer so I will be trying that out here.

They are acting quite normal now, it was just last night that they were all kind of not with it so I checked temps and those two were low.

Thanks guys - I am not really panicked but want to be aware just in case it is diet/supplement related.

It got above freezing today which was really nice.

ok sorry I had to eat dinner with the family.

I just go in and here are the temps with the new one

Mia 101.2
Destiny 101.3
Jasper 101.8
Aspen (yup caught her finally) 101.3

So it looks like they might be back in the normal range.

Will take temps tomorrow as well.

this new one takes the temps faster so that is nice. but it doesn't beep when done so I have to keep an eye on it so I know when it is done.

Anyway I will keep ya posted

THis morning

Destiny with two thermometers and 3 checks 100.5 (one checking turned her up at 100.3)

Mia 101.0

Misty 101.1
Sweet Pea 101.5

All are eating with plenty of energy and I am just not sure if the themometer was very cold so it couldn't get up to temperature before the time ran out for Destiny. I should have ran back to check her temp once again, maybe I will do that when I go out to fill up the shed with hay for the week.

so right now I am just going to believe they are all fine and just watch for any signs that they go off feed or are in need of addition help.

temps are in the low 20's at night and weren't getting above freezing for the past few weeks but that changed this week. We are not getting up into the 40's.

They are drinking the water but I could try the mollasses in one bucket - some of them dislike mollasses  but I am out of mollasses - reminds me I should get some tomorrow.
