Bottle kid questions

When to start grain with a bottle kid? I know I asked this last year but now can't remember if it was 2 weeks or later! He is nibbling on hay already at almost 2 weeks! I've read you can start at 1 week grain also so I'm not sure I know I saw a chart posted but can't find it again ! The things you forget in a year lol

You can start anytime. They just nibble at it at first.

Thanks didn't want to start it too early! I'll see if he'll nibble on some then!

Have to rig up a way to hook it to the panel so he can’t do that! Silly boy!

@ksalvagno @Boer Mama another quick question! I believe he has constipation.... should I try Karo in his next bottle or just go straight to an enema? He only drinks about 3.25 ounces a time so how much Karo syrup? I believe we have the clear kind

Do an enema.
Ok that's a couple ounces warm water and a couple drops of regular dawn? Any other suggestions.. never done one!

You can use a 6cc syringe. Gently push the water/dish soap in until he poops.

Thanks, I looked it up! That's what I did. He didn't poo while doing it, but right after he did! So I'm relieved

Right after that I noticed a kid crashing outside... got him warmed up and to take almost 3.5 oz of goats milk! Took awhile though and I kept waking up during the night worried about him! Looks like I've got 2 bottle boys unless Molly will take the one back! But I'm worried he wasn't eating good with her and that's why he crashed! The other 2 are doing good on her!

But he's still alive this morning and I'm warming up bottles soon!

It’s good they have a buddy now. Two bottle boys isn’t much harder than one.
Mom could have rejected him, a cold kid is a hungry kid . Glad you found him and Got him warm and fed.

Thanks it was rough I was up until 1 am but finally got him to eat about 12:20! Yeah I figured he was hungry and cold... she usually does well with triplets so that's too bad! I just hope he pulls thru he was still up to temp a bit ago when I woke up so that's a good sign!

Glad you found him… she may have just decided it was too many this year and cut him out.
I had a mama feed all her babies for the first week and then I noticed she wouldn’t let the one eat. I watched him try multiple times and it became obvious that she was specifically keeping him off.
Glad he’s doing well this morning!

Thanks @Boer Mama I'm glad I found him too! He's walking around some in the play pen, not just laying down! He ate another 3.5 oz this morning which is 20% and he still looked a little sunken in! He was starved but I don't want to give him any more especially right away! Poor thing I'm kind of upset I didn't notice sooner!
