Breeding for Dapple

966 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  toth boer goats
Hey Guys I am back!

My two traditional kids that were born last April are doing well.
I just sent my spotted doe away to be bred with a dapple buck.
Hopefully the buck will kick her into heat. I was wondering if you guys think they'll produce more spots or dapples? I'd love to end up with a few dapples.

Oooh! Probably spots... in my opinion. 馃槀 I had a ton of spots, even from my non-spotted goats. I think spots might be dominant.

We bred everything to our dapple buck last year. Our traditionals all produced dapple headed kids. Our dapple does were about 50% dapples 50% solid reds. I would say chances could be high for dapples.

Thats awesome! Thank you for the insight! Dapples are so beautiful. I've only bred them to traditional bucks.
I agree with hillsideboers.
