More babies...woo hoo! We are inducing her for sat. morning. I think she'll have twins...at least I hope she does.

I'll get some pics tomorrow when it's nicer. It's only 30 degrees out now! *shivers*

    Re: Brook is due soon!!

    do you often induce?
My vet refused to induce my doe unless she went way over her due date, as he said it was extremely tough on the animal and could cause them to prolapse. I've a friend who had a doe prolapse after being induced too.

why are you inducing her? is she way over due? medical reasons?

why not let nature take its course?

    Re: Brook is due soon!!

We've induced the past three does without problems. We raise our kids on CAE prevention, so we have to pull the kids at birth. Mom works and I don't particularly want to be here by myself when a doe kids, because I have no way to get them to a vet if something would happen. There is a breeder that has been inducing for 12 years without problems.

    Thanks Ashley!

I have a good friend who induces all of her does and has done so for a few years now. I think the risks must be pretty slim as she researched and called around to many of the schools and vets first. I'm so excited for you! I cant wait for babies!

Thanks! I love having a time frame!! 29-36 hours...but you do have a couple of odd balls sometimes...like Flicka who finally kidded at 45 hours.

I am considering it for my two does next year. With school and everything, it's so hard to be there for them and I will be pulling kids so it's a must. LOL

We give them a 2cc shot of lutlyse and a 5cc shot of dex(it's some big long name that I don't know how to spell without the bottle in front of me! LOL).

When you have school/work/whatever and you can't always be there...inducing them is helpful, especially when you pull kids and bottle/bucket raise them. :)

Brook kidded!!! A big single buckling :boy: ...purty little(ahem)....big guy! I do believe she is done...it looks like she is starting to pass the afterbirth and she is eating hay with her buddy, Lark.

So that means we're done kidding until mid April...then it's Lark's turn!!
