Attached are pics of my 11wk old Nigerian dwarf buck (currently and some to reference from when he was younger.) He started having silver hair sprout randomly within last few days, I did treat both my goats for lice which are now gone about a week ago (with cylence 1mL to neck/back) could this be from that? Or could it be natural beucase he is maturing? Could it be from him having his first shedding since Florida is finally done with the little cold spell we had? Mineral Deficiency? (Just changed to new minerals yesterday) Or do you think it could be something worse? It’s only the one spot on upper back and some on his upper neck. Much appreciated
Kids do change colour, sometimes drastically. If his skin is OK at the area of the spots, then he looks OK to me.
It looks to like he's always had them I can see them in the younger pictures of him. You might just be noticing them now because he's getting darker and they are getting lighter. I would say they are moon spots.
It is just white hairs. No moonspots. There is a name for having white hairs throughout but I can't think of it.
He could just be coming into his color. I have a buck and one doe that you almost can’t tell they are the same ones born. LOL.
I wish I did. My little buck was totally brown. I loved the color he was. Eventually he became totally white with some smudges of brown on his head. My tri-color babies are notorious for adding white and silver (all have a silver father). They start off looking one way and white or silver hairs begin to become more and they end up with different markings due to it. They have always stayed tri-color but their markings change due to the white or silver hairs.
