i dont think the buck is getting enough, tried to put him on bottle but doesnt want it and it drips out.....i gave him a bit of nutridrench....would vit b help? dosage? normalo temp, but his mouth is cold.....
If his mouth is cold that isn't good. Are you sure your thermometer is right? Give some whiskey, Molasses, coffee mixture to him.
How old is he ? Is he getting anything from mom? Is he by himself ? My 2 that I am co-mothering were slow to take the bottle but they are getting better . The doe comes to me when I go out to the paddock . They are only taking between 4-6 oz from me now . I am hoping the increase in time . I have done them 5 time a day for the past 3 days . They were born Tuesday afternoon. Karen
check your doe to see if she has milk..... How is the other kids gut,is it full, or is it very little ....she may have not enough milk, check her for mastitis......that can deplete milk production.... It is good you gave him nutra drench... found this on stacey's post keep him warm.... if you have to ..............syringe feed him..... they are ....just a week old
Have you ever tube fed a baby? Sometimes iven if yuou can get a small amount in their tummy it perks them up enough to get them eating again. Like was said the mollases and whiskey mixture is good. Kepp him on a hot water bottle or put some towles in the dryer and wrap them around him. Keeping him warm is essential, and if his mouth is cold he isnt warm enough. Keep us posted im thinking about you beth
Well, he is doing much better with the nutridrench. the other kid is fine and drinking lots. but she's sucking the doe dry. And the dam is not giving much milk, her udder looks fine, just not enough for two. I finally got him to take a bottle and now his mouth is warm again (my thermometer is brand new, never been used. He is with his mom and his sister, who is growing very fast. i'll probably feed him bottle and he can nurse... I'll give him some Vit B Fortifeid... thanks
yep...running around happily today. i put him on a bottle. so he can get more milk. vit b really helped his appetite, nutri drench was great for bring his temp up.
