Bumps on udders.

Hello, I have two does that have bumps on their bellies and udder. They are “flat” bumps like a mosquito bite. Maybe the size of a dime or a little smaller. They are not open, red, or pus filled. They don’t even show up in photos. One of the does had a swollen teat a couple days ago but it went away. I figured she had stepped on it or wounded it in some way. I milk these two first and last so I don’t believe it is something that I spread from one to the other by milking.

My suspicion is some kind of bug bug bite. The two does are the two that seem to lay on the ground more often. I looked around in the areas they typically lay and didn’t see bugs. It did just start getting warm here so the bugs are going crazy. I plan to put a few more platforms in their pen so they have more choices of places to get up off the ground. I have ultraboss pour on that I can apply as well if you believe it would help. Should I treat the bumps with something even if they aren’t open? I have betadine and iodine as well as some essential oils but could always get something else if needed.

Also should I clean their loafing area? It has deep bedding. Would something applied to the ground help?
So more like welts than bumps? Depending were you live, could be chiggers, red ant bites, or even an allergic reaction. Having two break out is less likely though. Might try giving Benadryl for bug bite. Wash with chlorhexidin for cleansing. I like the idea of making platforms for them to lay on.

Yes welp is a good description. Do you happen to know the dosage for Benadryl?
Yes, Benadryl is 5 cc for little kiddos and 15-20 for adults
Could also be staph. I like chlorhexidine, and make sure bedding is very dry. Wet conditions are great for staph to develop.
