Starting a new farm and need some advice. The plan, registered kikos, good bloodline, selling kids and soap in the spring and land clearing in the summer into the fall. My fear and the needed advice is making sure no harm comes to the herd due to poisonous plant. I am no botanist so how would I identify plants growing on land that I would be paid clear. Any ideas? Thanks guys and gals.
This website lists some poisonous plants for goats. You could probably google what each plant looked like, so you can walk your land to see if you have any. https://goats.extension.org/which-plants-are-poisonous-to-goats/
Talk to your county extension agent. Start reading up and studying. Talk to Master Gardeners and other livestock owners. One of those extra things you will need to learn.
