I'm in Washington state and over this summer have begun our home hobby goat farm! Eventually I'd like to sell soap and new kids. I don't think it'll ever be profitable necessarily, but some extra income here and there.

I am wondering about getting a business license and when.
-Should I get a license now so I can claim this year's purchases as business expenses even though we likely won't have revenue until 2021/2022?
-Is there a special license or certification I need to do for selling livestock?
-Would I need a separate license for milk and for livestock sales or could that be under one license?

    Thanks so much!

You might contact your local chamber of commerce. I think until you are ready to sell, you wouldn't get a license.
