Whew. all of my goats are negitive! i'm so relieved, i was so worried that they would be positive i cant really believe it. Although i did have one shot of bad news- my new FB star scored 81, wich is positive. ugg, my only FB boer doe. that means her kid could have it too. but i'm retesting in 8 months, maybe it was false of something.
congrats on the most part of the results... :leap: but ..I am sorry about your FB boer "star".........
yeah, she was the one I really wanted to keep- becuase sh'e FB...but i'm not sure what I should do now. I'm not about to pull kids from dams just for cae...anyone have suggestions?
I would retest with a different lab to make sure. Pulling the babies is the only way to halt the disease but even then it sometimes doesn't insure a clean baby.
If you don't want to pull the kids...... I really can't blame you...the only alternative is... to sell her and her daughter and get a replacements.... I really hate to say that... ...but that is the safest way.. I see to protect the rest of your clean herd....
yeah.. I'm selling a whole bunch now that theyre tested, so i'll be down to 4 goats total. then build up. There are a 2 nice ones in Sterling i'm looking at. i'm selling; Keeping : thor Zephyr bikini Calypso 2 cashmeres ND doe for milk star (probably for meat) star's kid. i really want to keep her kid for showing, so i might just pull her kids.
wow... talk about down sizing.... It is totally up to you.. about keeping the doeling and pulling her kids.....good luck and also ....on your new purchases....
wow  , i had two columns....hmm that didnt work. keeping ; calypso zephyr nd doe stars kid (how about the name Valkyrie?) selling; thor GH bikini cashmeres
if the baby has already started to nurse off mom then pulling her kid now wont be of any use. The CAE virus would have already been passed on through the colostrum
I would retest through WADDL just to make sure on that CAE. No offense to Bio Tracking as I LOVE their pregnancy testing, but I don't do any of my viral testing through them at all.
yeah....that would be nice ....if they were wrong ...and the test results on her boers were CAE negative........ ray:
Me and WADDL have had some issues involving a inaccurate test result. So I wouldn't say WADDL is the best place to test with. But thats just me. I also understand that any lab will make a mistake every once and a while.
