Hello, all! Because I'm a wimp, I have someone else disbud my goat kids. Today I was wondering about the possibility of passing disease through the iron from kid to kid.

When I googled it, it was listed as a possible secondary method of CAE infection, which has me a little nervous. At the same time, wouldn't the heat from the iron evaporate and kill the CAE virus? Any thoughts?

I too agree. Just like with heat treating colostrum and/or milk it kills it off. I would assume while it's heating it kills everything. Perhaps what you were reading meant afterward? Like if they came into contact with a CAE+ goat while it was healing up or if they get scurs and that falls off and bleeds.
