We clipped our fair goats last night and I noticed fleas on them. Can I use a medicated dog shampoo on them, or can I put Tea Tree/Citronella oil on them? Or is there something I need to use to get rid of the fleas and keep the other bugs from biting them now that they are shaved?

You could do either. You could dust them. There are a lot of options.

I had been dusting them with diatomaceous earth, but it hindered the clippers, and so we washed it all off, and now I'm afraid to use it because it will make them dingy looking for the fair. I suppose it'll wash off okay though.
    Does it discourage biting bugs?

I use Cylence which is put on across their spine. I think there is a pour on called Boss. There are sprays you can get that you spray all over the body.

Cylence is an oily liquid, but works well. It's lice that you see probably, not fleas.

After we bathed and clipped the goats, I re bathed them then when dry, dusted with Python dust. Right before fair, they got another bath. No more yucky critters! (Only 2 looked like they might have had lice, but all got the multiple baths, including the one that got clipped really close!
