Can I switch to something else for the second shot or would that compromise immunity?

What would you recommend to use for boosters?

    Size is not a concern?

Make sure you are not moving the needle a lot once it penetrates the skin. When you do this it causes trauma to the tissue and your chances of a hematoma or abscess increase. I know its easier said than done when a goat is jumping around or pulling on you.

I use Bar Vac as well, and always get the darn abscesses, no matter how I try to give it or rub it afterwards.
Bar Vac is what is easy to find around here, so I just deal with the lumps, where I give the vaccine.

You can get another brand but, it must contain the same ingredients ect.

We use the Goat Vac CD/T. You can purchase it from TSC-not a bad price and so far we have had no issues with it.

I do use the Colorado Serum, and we usually get tiny little bumps that go away in a bit. We did use Bar Vac our first year and ended up with our only (to date) vaccination abscess. That was no fun. But I don't know if that was the brand or not - it WAS our first year giving shots so it could have been our bad.
