Cocci again?

1047 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  ThreeHavens
A few months ago Thumper had weird poos and the vet found that it was coccydiosis. I treated him with Corrid and vitamin B complex and he was fine. Now, he has had the same poos again. Do I just assume it is cocci and treat for that? He is eating and active. They are not like diarrhea, they are more like Mounds candy bars only bigger. Thanks for any help or ideas.

It could be something different. It could be he ate too much of something or got into something new or worms. If you get a fecal done it can tell you for sure what's going on
If you can afford a fecal that would be best. If you can't, I would reccomend Fir Meadow's GI Soother as treatment. It's herbal so it won't cause any resistance, so it won't cause problems if it isn't cocci. It treats many causes of sloppy poops -- I've used it to treat cocci, but it can also treat dietary causes, and other tummy upsets. When I treated for cocci, I did double dose every 15 minutes for an hour, then hourly until the poops hardened, then every 3-4 hours until all symptoms are gone (of course I didn't do it through the night, lol). Once they are cleared, go to 3 times a day, for 3 days to be sure it's kicked.

It's my preferred treatment now, since it worked so well and I don't have to worry as much about chemical resistance. Plus, the herbs are good for the system, supporting the natural flora. :3
