The last goat in my quarantine pen had a mild case of cocci.

How long can they survive without a host and what is the best way to kill them? The goat that had them is 100% clean now and everyone else is fine.

cocci can survive a year or longer. Here is a good article on cocci
http://www.thecozynest.com/understanding_coccidiosis.htm

Raking the pen and getting as much poop picked up is the best way to rid cocci fromteh enviorment...all goats carry some cocci and stress is what opens the door to take over... fecals can help you control all worms by knowing what to treat and when

Baycox is the best Cocci wormer I have used...I order from horseprerace.com its aone to two dose medication

And bleach. I swear, I had the same bottle of bleach from college (20 years ago) until I got goats.

I generally bleach all the food/water/etc dishes weekly because goats step in them. We just did a fecal and one of our girls has cocci. She was penned away from her mom for weening so her pen will get bleached too.

It can come onto your place in water also. Like where I have a run off ditch from river overflow that goes through my place. Everyone upstream is adding to what it carries around.
