Coccidia treatment age?

Baxter, the little goat born to a high worm load mom who had no colostrum or milk to give, has gotten up to at least 12 pounds . I have a scale ordered to weigh in pounds and ounces but don’t know when it will come in. I just know I weighed him on a scale that show almost 10 pounds a week ago. This Monday he is two weeks old and active as a hummingbird. He doesn’t stand still for nothing but sucking his bottle. He is now at 1-1/2 bottles of milk 4 times a day. This evening I put a little feed down for him when I fed his mommy and he ate a little of it. I think I could increase him from 1-1/2 bottle to 2 bottles, 4 times a day now and maybe if he begins to eat a little of the hard food, say by this coming Monday week, I could cut him to 3 feedings of 2 bottles per feeding. He will be 3 weeks old this Monday week from now. When do I start Coccidia treatment? (At 3 weeks old or 4) thanks

Milk should be fed by his weight not by bottles? Unless I miss understand. 10-12% of his body weight in oz as a start point.

Coccidia prevention should start between 10 days and three weeks old.

1-1/2 x = 6 bottles a day- bottle holds 9 oz. total of 54 ounces per day

12lb goat x 16 = 192 X .15 = 28.9 or 29 ounces per day. This would equal to about 3-1/4 of my bottles a day.
According to this he is getting too much. I use .15 because he may weight more than 12 pounds. I have a pound / ounce scale ordered but don’t know when it will come in. I’ll take a bathroom scale down this evening and reweigh him the best I can. He is not over filled with what I’m giving him, no bloated sides, no bowel problems and no diarrhea that I have seen. I’ll give first dose of Toltrazuril this evening and another in ten days if needed. Is my formula correct if he is a 12 pounder? Thanks
Yes your formula is correct at 15% . And if hes doing good at 15 % great. I wouldnt go up on that amount until you get actual weight on him. ;)

Best I could tell on the scales this evening was about 15 pounds. So now : 16 x 15 = 240 x .15 = 36oz / 4 = 9 oz per feeding (1 bottle) 4 times a day

240 x .20 = 48 / 4 = 12oz per feeding (1-1/4 bottle per feeding) This is Apx where I’m at now.

I am using a bathroom scale, stepping on it and weighing myself and letting my helper hand me Baxter the baby goat. Then subtract my weigh from both our weights. I know this is a primitive way of doing but my pound & ounce scales will be another week at least getting to me. ( slow boat from China I guess) I am using the .20 percent scale and he is holding it well. I gave him his first Toltrazuril this evening and he only drank about 3/4 bottle and quit. Tonight he was back on track with 1-1/3 bottle. No scour or stomach bloating. He is active as all get out and follows me everywhere I go in the pasture. Mama cleans him while I’m feeding him but she has dried up and has no milk. I know if she had milk she would have been a good mama from the way she shows him attention and stays with him and sleeps with him at night.

This morning was only one 8 oz bottle and an ounce maybe out of the second bottle with 3 ounces in it. When he gets to a point he just quits. I have been letting him and mom go to pasture with the herd since Sunday evening. I do lock them up at night in the corral with access to their shelter. He maybe eating some browse and hay with mama but I haven’t seen it. If I was home during the day I might could catch him eating something else. He will be 3 weeks old this coming Monday.
If he is not finishing his bottle..I would back off on the amount. 15% maybe a better spot for him. It can take about 2 weeks or so for undigested milk to build toxins. Not finishing a bottle is good indication he could be heading toward tummy issues. I'm so glad he's with mom.
Ok , 15x16=240 x .15 = 36/4= 9 oz. my bottles are Apx 9 oz bottles. I’ll feed one bottle every feeding, morning, lunch, evening and night.(7:30am-12:00pm-4:30pm and 9:30pm) How long before I can cut out the night feed? He cut his self off at one bottle, he didn’t run around searching for the other bottle like he had been doing. I’ll just stay at the 8-1/2 to 9 oz feeding for the next week and watch him.
Just in from last bottle (9) ounces. He took it all. I know he is got to be pooping but I have never seen it or any sign of it. His back end end is clean as a whistle. I wanted to test for Coccidia but don’t have a sample. Do you give a milk baby probiotics? Just checking. I hope my scales hurries up and comes in soon. Then I can get a good weight. He is aggressive with the bottle and doesn’t take him long to unload it. He is waiting in the corral for me even though he has access to the north pasture thru the lane pasture connection. (Over 150 yards). He goes to pasture with mom but around noon and 4:30pm , he is waiting on me or the wife for that bottle of milk. Early morning and late evening he is locked in the corral with mom and 2 of moms buddies.
