So I have 2 doelings who have moonspotted sires but neither of them were born with moonspots. I was wondering if they themselves could produce moonspots on their kids even if it is not present on them?

if they dont have any then no they cant produce moonspots.

but there is sort of a catch-- sometimes a moonspot is so tiny (1 hair) that you dont even see it. So in that way it is possible to pass on moonspots when it doesnt look like they have any moonspots.

Generally though if they dont have any visible the chances are they dont have moonspots

ditto to stacey. If they don't have any, they wont pass it. it'll be easy to see "hidden spots" when clipped, so you may have a stray spot that's tiny ( 3 hairs or so)..

Thank you guys! I am going to be clipping most of the goats in April so we will see. I had asked the breeder this question and she was unsure too so thanks very much for clearing that up for me.
