Coughing Goats

My daughter starting raising pet goats about 6 months ago. She has three Nigerian dwarf goats apx 8 mo old and two of them are coughing but have no other symptoms. We live on a dirt road so I think its the dust but lungworm has me worried. Should I treat all 3 for lungworm to be safe?

My NDs are coughing too. Treated them for lung worm and still coughing. Gonna try antibiotics as my daughter said its probably bacterial.
you can test them for lung worms at home...shared by Goathiker, you gather fresh goat berries and wrap them tight in a square of gauze..twist the top tight, like a hershey kiss :p, float in a cup of water over night..if they have lung worm you will see worms or larve floating in the water..

Its always best to know what you are treating before treating...but when you just can not have a fecal done and you know worms are an issue..ie: anemic , coarse coats, loosing weight, lethargic, unthrify...then you need to treat with a broad base wormer that covers a good amount of different worms...I chooce Ivomec Plus (1 cc per 40# sub Q)or Valbazen (1 cc per 10# orally) since they are the only two that get liver fluke...

Other reasons for coughing are dusting area, hay or feed, allergies..you can mist down the dirt areas where the goats are..not soak but wet enough to cut downon the dust..check you hay for mold and dust..try to fluff some of th edust out before feeding,s ome will mist that as well..if you feed is dusty you can lightly mist it when feeding...
for allergies..benadryl works great...I would try these things before going for antibiotics..

Thanks, I really do think it is just dust or allergies cause only two of three are coughing. I am having a hard time finding Ivomec Plus. does anyone have information on where I can order goat medications online?
Our goats are kept on a dry lot and they dont cough cause of the dirt/dust. Heck, they have a few pits that hey love to roll in and get totally filthy and still no coughing.
I had a boer goat who had to have benadryl every day during spring...with clear runny eyes and nose..and a cough...so each is different...treat for allergies and if it dont clear up then look deeper..could be URI coming on...

Mine do to, little piggies! Mine just love rolling and rubbing themselves in the dirt, every now and then one will cough from the dust storm they all created, lol.
I dont mind the dust at all. WHY some of them think its neat to go and roll on the poo pile is beyond me :)
