Looking for opinions on whether this looks infected?

Trimmed my boy's hooves 10 days ago, didn't notice anything wrong - now he's got this nasty discolored crack in a "T" formation. No limping or anything.

We've been having a drought so I guess I can understand hooves drying out and cracking, but the dark color concerns me.

His coat is beautiful & shiny - gets a lot of supplements. 2 types minerals, replamin gel plus, zinpro, kelp, etc.

I've started treating the hoof with:
*daily application of hoof conditioner
*daily tablespoon of Animed Biotin 100 in his feed
*1x LA-200 squirted on hoof last night (wondering if I should keep this up for 4 more days or so)

thanks for any advice/opinions.

No smell at all thank goodness, forgot to add that. I think it's a flap of sorts, is gapping away a bit where the hoof is. but not soft very hard and when I looked at it yesterday didn't think I could get my hoof trimmer points in there enough to start a cut.

Of course I can't risk bunches of crap, or a rock getting stuck up there either.

I'll see what kind of small tool I can find in the garage... some tiny nippers maybe.
