I noticed today that my 2 older boys have really dry flaky skin.....they are both shedding their undercoat.....they are wethers, I do not give grain in the summer except for BOSS. I took them out in the yard today and really had a good look and brushed them out.....not lice. They were wormed last week with Ivomec plus, we just got in new 2nd cut hay and have started them on it......they have sweetlix loose minerals.

Any remedies or ideas?......I know about giving aloe vera juice which I will pick some up tomorrow, what about Vit E or olive oil......wheat germ oil  ?
    Thanks, Denise

it can even be sunburn flaking -- we noticed this after shaving the goats that they were "pealing" with in a few days

Stacey.......I haven't shaved them......I only sheared like a inch off Elwood last month because he has/had such a woolie coat but he still had a full coat at that point.....he is now thinning out quite a bit, loosing his hair......but that just started this week.

  10. We used the Cynergize on their coats when this happens and it clears it right up.

Ground flax seed or flax seed oil is also really good for skin and coat.

The Aloe juice worked very well with my does flaky skin, Binky and Bailey are such a shiny black that they look blue, tried adding it to my boys water and they wouldn't touch it, so instead of having them thirsty in the hot weather they get plain water now, I think I will try to get the wheat germ oil to add with their grain rations and hope that it helps Hank.
