Timber who is due in a little more than a month, lies down and makes a noise that is sort of a long, drawn out grunt. She repeats it for long periods. She does this for an hour or so each morning and when she lays down after eating.
She is not grinding her teeth or seem in any distress- I remember her doing this last year too.
    I wonder why this is.

all my does sing or hum when they are eating hay. I always think of it as a groan of oh this is so good thanks mom...
We also had a nubian doe a few years ago that would grunt and sing for long drawn out periods. Car rides were the worst. It got really annoying. If you turned up the radio she just got louder.

My dairy girls don't, but my brothers boers usually get so huge, that by the end of their pregnancy they can't lay down without grunting for about 5 minutes after laying down. Poor girls :p

Yep mine do! Boers and Nubians both, it's like they are just so fat they have to grunt.
