My Alpine doe, Jacqueline is acting a bit funny since yesterday and I don't know why.
She seems fine, actually, but she was off her feed last night and this morning. I can't remember if she had any yesterday morning, but I think she did.
Her milk production is down to almost nothing, (usually a least half a gallon right now per milking) but that is most likely at least partly due to not eating her grain, I'm assuming. She had plenty of alfalfa yesterday though, and sweet potatoe vines, which we give them frequently.
She's still walking around, nibbling at hay, and drinking water.
I have not seen her "use the restroom" this morning, but I was only out for milking, so I didn't have a chance to watch her for very long.
Her eyelids are not very pale-they're actually pinker today than they have been in a while (I gave her some b shots a couple days in a row, so I think that helped)
She has done this in the past, just go off her feed for a day or two, then act fine like nothing happened, so I'm not too worried, just wondering what could cause it?

My first successful temperature-reading!

Okay Jacqueline's temp is 101.6, isn't that a bit low? I can't remember what a low temp indicates.

Oh, and since I was out there and mananged to do it finally, lol, I went ahead and took Ella's as well. (my ND doe) She's been kind of lethargic for quite a while now, so I thought I'd just check and see. Her's was 101.8. What are you thoughts?

Still haven't seen Jacqueline go either.

Ella has been anemic for a while now, she's been wormed, and treated for cocci. I've been giving her red cell quite a lot, and the past week b shots, but not every single day. Her lids are almost white and she seems lethargic. I ordered iron injectable and am waiting for it to arrive.
If you think I should start a different thread for Ella I will.

Yes, I just got a couple doses of epinephrine from my vet a couple days ago to have on hand for giving BoSe shots. :) It does give peace of mind just to have it there. :)

I don't have Probios yet (ordered that as well, along with more b complex, which I am almost out of) but I could give yogurt or kefir.
How would I give B complex in the drench? Is that what you meant?

Yesterday I gave Jacqueline a b shot (my last), about 3/4 cup of kefir, put molasses in her water, saw her drink it and saw her eat soda. Withheld grain as well. Never saw her go, and I was out there all afternoon cleaning and working and milking, but she was not always in my sight, so. ;)
Today she was hungry again, her rumen is back to working 3 times a minute, and she seems like her normal self. Saw her pee, no poo, but I didn't stay long.
So good report. :)

Give some probiotics, B complex and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda in enough water to drench..see if that dont perk up the rumen activity..
I didn't really think you meant to drench, but I just wondered. ;)

I forgot to say that she got green grass yesterday as well, and was eating hay and alfalfa hay too. And though she had no grain yesterday, her milk production was back up to around a quart this morning, whereas she only had a cup or two yesterday morning. :)
I will continue to give the kefir and/or yogurt.

Ella got red cell and kefir yesterday as well. :)
