so I think I posted on here awhile back that one of my does udder had filled up completely and I was wondering if she had been bred the 1st time and had a false heat the second. well it would be about 10 days after her 1st due date and 11 days before her second.

so her udder had filled up and was quite tight but nothing happened put her in a stall for a bit but let her out eventually after nothing and ligs not gone. but I went to check her today just to see how she's doing and the milk IS GONE. the udder is almost like it was before she filled up. is that normal??? what's going on? is she ok? did she kid or something or abort?

That's very bizarre. Is she confirmed bred by ultrasound or blood test?

It fairly likely she has learned to self nurse or that other goats in the herd are nursing her down

No she isn't. should I test her? I was just considering that... although I'm not sure where to send it.....
or is there ultra sound machines you can buy for goats?

oh my! that's crazy. should I try and "milk" her to see if she has any milk or anything??

I would put her in a stall for 6-12 hours and see if her udder fills, if yes, you have a nursing culprit in her companions.

I have seen a 3-4 year old doe nurse from her 4-5 year old mom while they were both pregnant...it is very strange yet possible.

So she's been in a stall for over 12 hours now and hasn't filled up.

Okay so either self-nursing or not pregnant is my guess! Can you spy her quietly for an hour without her seeing/knowing you're there?

Try putting paper tape on her teats. (The tape that removes easily). If it is there, then ??? But if it's off, you may have your answer!

I agree, watch and see if she is self sucking. Or another goat is.

If you can't watch her, they make bra to put on them.

They will get the tape off.

Yes, but the tape will probably not fall off by itself.

I put her in a stall for awhile and she did not fill back up and wasn't (thankfully) self-nursing. I wondered if the baby had died but she kidded successfully April 5th with a single doe kid and her milk production is pretty good!
