I am having a problem with strongyles and I have used safeguard, ivermectin and cydectin. My vet came and took a fecal 2 weeks ago and that’s when I treated with cydectin and safeguard. Now today they went from 1800 eggs and 1200 to 3500 and 2800 eggs. She said the last resort was a medicine called prohibit( if anyone has experience using this drug some helpful information would be appreciated). But has this happened to anyone else and if so what did you guys do to help this situation..
I'm sorry to you are having such a time. Prohibit is a very strong wormer...a big gun. Used properly on a healthy goat should hekp. If the goat is weak or down i would not use it. It can cause death.
I switched to Land of Havilah parasite formula(herbal) and DoTerra Essential oils when our chemical dewormers stopped working. They saved my herd.
To use Prohibit:
Mix powder to 17.5 oz water. Stir well to dissolved. Dose 4 cc per 100 pounds.
Follow up... dosages are definitely important, as well as the retreat at the 7-10 day mark. Have you tried everything else? Did you use the ivermec/safeguard combo at the same time?
